More than two years have passed since Diary Of Dreams presented us with their last fantastic album and proved once more their creative powers had reached a new peak. The band entered the German Media Control charts, stayed for weeks in the German alternative chart DAC and received hymns of praise from press, radio and clubs. The following concerts and the mini album “Panik Manifesto” only served to substantiate their presence and their standing.
With “Nigredo”, Diary Of Dreams now do their final bit to posterity. It is a concept album of the very special kind that demonstrates the incredible musical power of the band – and the maturity the unit around mastermind Adrian Hates has reached by now.
“Nigredo” incorporates the energy and the qualities of their former works without relying on well-trodden paths. It sounds claustrophobically close and forceful, threatening and melancholic. With great love of detail Diary Of Dreams created a homogenous album that will thrill and fascinate the listeners in clubs as well as in the privacy of their home. With certainty, the faithful fans will fall again for the fascination of the Dream Diary, and the pure depth of the music will also find new converts.
This time, the Band was determined to create an artwork to match the mastery of the music. Therefore Diary Of Dreams went to Iceland last year to do a photo session in the solitude of this bizarre Northern landscape which resulted in shots with amazing imagery and powerful setting.
To get all the details of the story behind “Nigredo” right, the band researched for two years in libraries and antiquarian bookshops. They created a mythology that is half real information and half fiction and will show an absolutely new world of thoughts to reader and listener. Legends and dreams become reality. All this is shown in letters and pictures in an exceptionally impressive booklet to go with the music, a booklet which is almost essential to understand the content but also just offers visual indulgence.
Therefore, the strictly limited first edition of “Nigredo” comes with additional pix in a book-like booklet, and the new CD is presented in a folding digipak, covered in a special box – a limited edition to stimulate all senses!
As a band, Diary Of Dreams always proved to defy clichés and managed to build a niche of their own. And again, “Nigredo” is an album that does not bend to current fashion but sets its own new trends – inimitably Diary Of Dreams!
Put this CD in your player – once it falls silent again, a piece of Nigredo will stay in your head.
